Full-face Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) is considered as advanced equipment for boring tunnel. With rapid development of national economic and municipal construction, it becomes more impendence to exploit underground space. Nowadays, the needs for TBM are very important in China. There exists technological gap in designing and manufacturing TBM as compared to foreign country. Therefore, it is very important to study the key technologies of TBM 's main set. This thesis is aimed at determining the types of TBM, parametric match, and strength calculation of main parts.This thesis consists of following parts:1. The key design technologies of TBM are studied. The type and primary parameters of TBM is determined in accordance with the operating condition. Some principles are given to design the cutterhead drive system and tooth layout.2. Total force of the thrust system and torque of the cutterhead is calculated. These results provide the basis for analyzing the cutterhead support assembly.3. Finite Element Method (FEM) is applied to analyze the deflections and stress of the cutterhead support and adapter.4. On the basis of the strength theory, the safety of the cutterhead support and adapter is acquired.This research provides a systematic design and analysis method for developing Full-face TBM. At the same time, it gives a measure to calculate the safety of primary parts of TBM. This research can fasten the development of TBM in our country.
