Due to the rapid development of traffic construction, the continuous rigid frame bridges are widely used in the field of highway and railway and become long span and more flexible. So it is necessary to study the stability because the available code is inadequate to instruct the design and construction of the continuous rigid frame bridges.First of all, the stability of flexible high piers is studied based on the LiZiGou bridge in the Neijiang-KunMing rail way. By compared with the stability analysis of the plane frame, the model of the plane stability analysis of the pier is simulated and the energy method is used to educe the practical formula for stability of the pier. Secondly because of the complexity of the bridge structure, both the theory method and the FEM are used to study the influence of self-weight, lateral force, foundation stiffness and the material. Finally the FEM software MIDAS is used to analyze the stability of the bridge under the load of train, wind and temperature. The effect of the three loads is compared and studied, which is referred to the engineers. In conclusion the bridgeis stable and safe.
