The method of bonding steel plates reinforcing is a well-improved technique for structural reinforcement which is currently applied extensively. The mechanical property of axial compressed reinforced concrete columns with steel plates should deserve attention. In this experiment nine columns have been cast, one reinforced concrete columns for contrasting are not strengthened, four reinforced concrete columns strengthened by bonding steel plates suffer loading directly, and four reinforced concrete columns suffer loading at first and then continue to be put out loading after being strengthened by bonding steel plates. In this paper reinforced concrete short columns strengthened with steel plate are tested under static load and the reliability is analyzed. The results of the experiment show that after strengthened, the strength capacity of column improved significantly, and the steel plates enhanced the compressive capacity and stay development of the crack through confined the concrete lateral deformation. On the basis of such analysis, formulas are brought forward as the concrete filled steel tube, and tallied well with the test result.At present there are many structure reinforcement methods, but there is little information about reliability after reinforcement. The paper analyzes the reliability of the reinforced concrete axial compressed columns after bonding steel plates, the results show that after strengthened, the reliability of the reinforced concrete columns accord with the requirement by Chinese Code named GB50068-2001.In the paper useful explorations on mechanical property of axial compressed reinforced concrete columns and reliability after reinforcement is carried on and development of reinforced concrete strengthened with steel plates is promoted.
