A Study Of Yuanfang Lane On The Bund Of Shanghai

The study object of this thesis is Yuanfang Lane on the Bund of Shanghai. There are some aspects of the study: the formation and evolution of Yuanfang Lane, its changing function and nature and the influences to the city as the lane transforms from private road to public road, a summary of the existing buildings of the lane and a key research on the No.5-21 building and the No. 18 building. Finally there is a description of the present situation of the lane, making value assessments from history, esthetics and economy aspects, giving suggestions on the future development of the lane and on the conservation and reuse of the architectural heritage in the lane, then proposing a whole transformation strategy and the perspective for Yuanfang Lane.
