With the rapidly increasing of Grid-connected wind generation capacity, the influence on grid operation is becoming more and more seriously. The characteristics of Grid-connected DFIG are important to safety and steady operation of power system.The paper studies the simulation model of Grid-connected DFIG, operation control and the model validation. The main research contents are as follows:The characteristics of mathematical model are analyzed. The electro-magnetic transient simulation model of Grid-connected DFIG is established under PSCAD/EMTDC. The operation characteristics of DFIG are simulated and analyzed under different operation conditions, it is helpful to understand the operation characteristics of Grid-connected DFIG deeply.The transfer function model of the control system is established, by which the performance of the control system with respect to the PI controller settings is studied quantitatively. The method to set the parameters of PI controller is proposed.The simple mode to calculate the current of DFIG when occur symmetrical fault is proposed, provide a calculate model to evaluate the influence of short-circuit current to protection device of grid.The first field tests of Grid-connected DFIG in China are conducted. The crowbar protection value is identified by analysis the experiment data which can not be provided by the manufactory. The identity between the simulation and experimental results prove that the model is reasonable and correct.
