Re-roofing project is the construction that retrofits the flat roof of existing building to slop roof. Light wood-truss system is becoming a new choice in re-roofing project, because it has higher strength per weight, has excellent performance of anti-earthquake, and is easier to construct.In this paper, Tongji re-roofing project, as well as some demonstrative projects, is taken as an example to state the characteristic and construction method of light wood-truss system. Innovative aspects are emphasized and carefully analyzed in order to propose a designing method, and to reveal the problems that need to be studied.The following lists a summary of the studies in this paper.1) State the key points of building wood-truss slop roof on existing building, and introduce the designing method of wood-truss system.2) Design the slop roof of Tongji re-roofing project according to Chinese code, and compare the result with which is given by MITEK 20/20.3) Analyze the seismic effect of wood-truss slop roof to existing building and its base, by using PKPM models of three-storey, four-storey, five-storey and six-storey houses.4) Analyze the dynamic property of wood-truss roof and the stability of shear wall by theoretical analysis of SAP2000 and dynamic test, and find a better way to reduce the cost.5) Compare the wood-truss system with steel structural system in several aspects, such as structural duration, construction method, environmental impact and cost, to illustrate the merits of wood-truss system, and the problems that need to be studied.
