Suspen-dome structure was presented by professor M.Kawaguchi of Tokyo Politics and Law University, Japan in the 1990s last century and successfully applied on several practical engineering, But it remains blank of research on the dynaminc failure mode and the time history of dynamic catastrophe of suspend-dome under strong earthquake.Focusing on the problems above ,in this paper,the force finding method for suspend-dome is studied firstly, and then,basic dynamic behaviors were obtained with parametric mode analysis. Based on single-layer shell dynamic failure theorety and dynamic failure of the full time history of kiewitt's suspend-dome were deeply discussed. The main contents in this paper are as follows:1 .The principle and method on determinating distribution of initial pre-stress was discussed, a method on determining pre-stress mode was put forward, several methods were compared and studied. How to determine the pre-stress level was also analysed. The pre-stress level determined by rigid cable method,in wich the horizontal displacement or reaction force of the supports nearly equals to zero, was reasonable to some extent. The exact initial pre-strain was calculated efficiently by simplified tension compensation method.2. In chapter three,analysis on the free vibration behavior was performed firstly, and a comparison between suspend-dome and the corresponding single layer shell was executed. Parametric analysis on free vibration behavior was proceeded. The Parameters considered were:boundary conditions,rise to span ratios,prestress value of the cables etc. Some regular conclusions are drawn.3.The characteristic of dynamic failure of suspend-dome under multi-dimensional earthquake was generalized. The results were indicated that the responses were not entirely symmetrical. As the cable-bar system strengthen the structural rigidity,when the structure fail to work, there was no remarkable sag in cable-bar areas .The unstability sags often occured on the without cable-bar areas and the top of suspend-dome.4.Dynamic instability and strength failure ,two damage patterns of the structures under severe earthquake which mainly determined by boundary conditions and rise to span ratios were discussed tentatively. The influence on the dynamic failure pattern of the different parameters were deeply analyzed. The parameters considered were as follows: boundary conditions,rise to span ratios, prestress value of the cables ,cross section area of the member etc.5.Some suggestions were given to control the dynamic response and the dynamic failure pattern of suspend-dome structure. In certain condition,the distribution of supports, cable pre stress and the style of the supports were very important to the failure pattern.
