The Truss String Structures (TSS), using bar connecting trusses and cables, is a new type of large-span space structures, and also is a transformative type of the Beam String Structures (BSS). In recent years, because of its successful applications in many important large-span buildings, TSS is becoming one of the focus for studying in the filed of space structures. In this paper, a large number of literatures and cases for classic projects have been consulted in order to complete the designing task of a TSS project successfully. And based on these literatures and cases, a lot of researches on TSS will been done then, including the optimization of parameters, the analysis of seismic performance, and the model experiment. At the same time, the whole designing and researching process of TSS will be displayed detailedly.Firstly, based on reading many specialty literatures, the history of its development, the actuality of engineering examples and researches are introduced. Then the general situation of the actual project designed with this paper and some basic interrelated thesis are presented.The optimization of parameters is a key point during the designing of TSS. Based on the experiences and conclusions got by the old scholars, new aims are confirmed to analyze, and new parameters are taken into account in order to satisfy the project's needs. After the particular analyses and discussions, much more economical and rational parameters for the actual project have been got. And farther more, a propositional process of the optimization of parameters could be put forward based on the analyses and discussions.The dynamic behavior of TSS is getting more and more attentions by the domestic and foreign scholars gradually. And its seismic performance is always a focus in the filed of engineering sector all the time. In this paper, the natural characteristics of TSS will be analyzed firstly, and then the peculiarity of its frequency and vibration will be summarized. Two common methods recommended by the Code for seismic design of buildings will be used to check up the project designed under the earthquake. These works could provide more experience for the designing jobs of TSS aftertime. At last, the traveling wave effect of the earthquake wave will be considered, and some significative conclusions could be gained. After the theoretic analyses and engineering designs, a model of the actual structure is designed out. The model experiment include these contents, loading experiments of several conditions, measuring of the natural frequencies, modifying the whole process of construction, adjusting the force in cables, modifying the cable's replacing. But limited by the length of this paper and testing division, only the results of the static test will be analyzed.Finally, all the achievements accomplished are summarized and some problems for future study are proposed.
