As our country's large-span bridges construction advancing rapidly and enter into a developing process, construction of large-span cable-stayed bridges and suspension bridges is to be still growing. Construction technology and design for bridges in our country rank the advanced range in the world. But there are still some problems, for example, durability and security of cable structures in bridge isn't good enough. Many cable-stayed bridges need to be cable replaced only a few or double years after it was finished. It not only exhaust large amount fee of cable replacement but also must implement traffic control in order to reduce traffic jam or even traffic block. It influences service level as well as society badly and will cause big economic loss during working process of larger bridges. So, we should think much of the durability and security of the stay-cable.In this thesis, it gives a broad exploration and research on the durability and security of stayed-cable bridges(mainly on parallel wire stay-cable). It studies stay-cable's construction, and produced facture techniques. It includes two main types(parallel wire stay-cable and strand stay cable). It is also analysis protective system, protective methods and internal environment control ways of stay-cable. At present, problems on stay-cable have guidance on how to extend using span of stay-cable. It studies the reason why it comes into being, which aims at the insufficient durability and security of the stay-cable. At the same time, it studies some measures on improving the durability and security of the stay-cable; especially take related experiments on stay-cable's seal-structure which influences much. It has discovered a new stay-cable seal-structure, expecting to improve present protective system and structure as well as durability and security so that the using span of stay-cable could be extended.
