Bridge deck pavement is a special pavement structure, which will not only protect the bridge from damage but also act as a pavement structure for traffic. How to design appropriate bridge deck pavement structure and thickness is very important for improving bridge deck pavement's service lifetime and quality. Because the mechanical mode of bridge deck pavement is different from that of the usual pavement, the calculation method for pavement can not reveal the actual stress state of bridge deck pavement. In order to provide a theoretic basis for the bridge system design and to improve the stress distribution and to prolong the performance term of the bridge deck pavement, the mechanical properties of the bridge deck pavement are studied under.In this paper, the causes of the damages are analyzed accordinghe to the main failure types of bridge deck pavement after meticulous census. Based on the finite element method, the axis-symmetry model is simulated to analyze the effects of interface conditions, load magnitude and other parameters on bridge deck pavement. For asphalt concrete pavement, it mainly analyzes the interface shear stress and interface normal pulling stress.By calculating the problems of bridge deck pavement with different thickness and different modules of asphalt pavement, the influences of different parameters of bridge deck pavement on the stresses and surface deflection of the bridge deck pavement are carried out. The results provide a theoretical reference for choosing rational of the bridge deck pavement.This paper uses elastic mufti-layer theory to detailedly analyze the stress in different interface conditions between asphalt pavement and concrete layer; thus finding the general law of the stress. Also, this paper has studied the waterproof membrane on bridge decks with numerical modeling. It calculates the stresses of bridge deck pavement with different thickness and different modules of waterproof membrane. The results indicate that the condition of the bonding structure is a key factor to guarantee the credibility of the bridge deck pavement.The overload conditions through increase the vertical load value. Then make the conclusion that the overload is an abruption act on the pavement. The horizontal load is the vertical load and the friction's multiplication. In this paper we discuss the horizontal load's influence on bridge deck pavement.Based on inside and outside experiment and construction mechanics calculation, consider waterproofing ratings, the function in construction and stability of layer combination, put forward systematic design method and recommend the typical asphalt concrete bridge structure with waterproofing layer.
