Application Of Wide Area Information In Power System Protection

Wide area protection is a new subject in recent years, it uses more information in power system to achieve wide area protection. Wide area protection can solve some of the issues in the traditional relay, and coordination with the traditional protection to ensure the security and stability of the power system operation. In this paper, the wide protection mainly refers to the wide area protection relay function. This paper discusses the function of wide area protection system structure, introduced a multi-agent technology apply in the wide area protection; applying circuit electric current temporary characteristic carry out the fast circuit protection, and find out accuratly the position of the fault; Based traditional back-up protective information of the action, analysis the information in the connection area, judge the possibility of the fault in this line,raise the selectivity and fast of the back-up protection, and apply ATP software to carry on a simulation.
