Since the specialties of traction network of electric railways in network topologies, electrical elements and operational conditions, it is significant for comprehending their electrical properties to research the mathematical models and electrical parameters. This thesis mainly researches the fundamental and harmonic frequency modeling and the electrical parameters calculation for traction network of electric railways. This paper gives the calculation method for the serial impedance and parallel admittance matrix of the traction network based on the mature algorithm used in power system. The specialties of the topology and conductors in traction network have been taken into account. The combination and cancellation of relative conductors have been shown, and an example is presented.Various traction networks can be described conformably by a chain network with multi-conductor transmission lines as its framework. All electrical elements can be classified into the serial element or the shunt element. The equivalent-∏circuits are adopted for uniform multi-conductor transmission lines of traction networks. Other elements also build mathematical modeling.A C# program is developed for simulation of traction network mathematical modeling. The thesis designs a good human-computer interactive interface. By the interface, people can input electrical parameter and load outer data; the calculation result can be output by .csv file. The algorithm of LU-decomposition is presented in detail. Finally, based on practical harmonic measurement, the effect of parameters of traction network on resonance is analyzed. The reason of harmonic resonance and suppression method are described. The feasibility of the program is proved by the simulation results.
