This paper analyses the flexural behavior of HPS(high performance steel)-HSC(high strength concrete) composite beams, and takes HPS 485W , HPS 690W and HSC60, C70, C80 as the main materials. In details, the following aspects are investigated:1. This paper introduces the elastic and plastic analysis of the HPS-HSC composite beams, and gives a compare study among EC4 (Eurocode4) ,Chinese code for design of steel structures and the calculation method of this paper. then according to a example , a more reasonble cross-section type of HPS-HSC composite beams is selected. In addition, the design of shear connectors and the calculation method of ultimate deflection are fully investigated.2. The effects of the concrete grades, the height of the concrete flange plates and the cross-section types of steel girders on the ultimate flexural capacity of the HPS-HSC composite beams are discussed, which is compared with the common steel-concrete composite beams, and a reasonble composite beam of them is selected.3. According to a example of the simply supported composite beams, the yield and ultimate moments,the yield and ultimate deflections are calculated in the different cross-sections of different materials, the same cross-sections of different materials and the different cross-sections of same materials.4. Using finite element program to simulate the composite beams of the above example, the results of finite element numerical and the theoretical results are comprised, and the flexural behavior of all composite beams are analysed. From the analysis results, it is concluded that the simulation results are near to the theoretical results, and these results can be verified each other. In addition, the reasonble HPS-HSC composite beam is that: the material of steel girder is HPS 485W, the type of steel girder is standard rolled I-section 40c; and the concrete grade is C60, the height of the concrete flange plates is 150mm and the width is 2000mm. A suggestion using it because of the greater ultimate flexural capacity and the better ductility .There are 53 figures. 29 tables, 50 reference in this paper.
