With the globalization of production and internationalization of trade, Liner service is the main transportation mode instead of tramper service. In the shipping fields, the service conditions provided every carrier tends to the same. More carriers pay important to the management and operations for making refine service and improving competence.Shipping route, marketing static and operational management will infect transportation quality especially by shipping route. So developing the shipping route satisfying market demand is the core research item of a container Liner.During the design of shipping route, the planner must consider many factors such as cargo distribution in origin-destination ports, cost of port and vessel, vessel's speed and loading capacity. Carriers usually plan their routing manually, which is inefficient their operations. On the basis of research achievements in the present the dissertation constructs a mathematics model so as to help carriers making decision.There are four main aspects, which are studied in detail in the dissertation presented as follows:1. This dissertation infers the closed loop is the common transportation shape in the container Liner service. Meanwhile the dissertation analyses the tendency of container Liner shipping market development and Liner service operation composition.2. This dissertation considers the factors related to shipping route. Firstly it investigates the relation of empty container distribution issue and inventory routing. Secondly the dissertation generalizes some elements of port select. At last it analyses the cost and time structure of shipping service.3. This dissertation formulated an integer nonlinear programming model for single shipping line design problem. And through redefinition of decision variable the substitute model size is reduced a lot. That with the decision task of inventory routing, vessels select and empty container distribution include in a integrate model is the distinguishing feature.4. In order to evaluate the model in practice, this dissertation performed a case of six ports and three type vessels. The software LINGO 8.0 is used to solve this model and analyze the solution.
