The application of gabled frame is very widely in China. But the study on seismic behavior of the structure is still not thoroughly, especial in the field of bearing performance, failure model and failure mechanism of the structure under earthquake. Therefore, the seismic design in related codes and specification is not well specified. Problems mentioned above restrict the application of gabled frame in high-seismic fortification intensity region. So the study on seismic behavior of this structure with shaking table has important theoretical and engineering value.From the national standard drawing, this paper selects the frame of GJ 18-2C to be tested. The specimen for shaking table test consists of four 1/3 scale frames of GJ18-2C. In the design, the similarity ratio is determined by similarity theory. So we can obtain the bearing performance, deformability and failure mechanism of the prototype frame from the test date of model structure in term of the similarity ratio. Finally, based on the results of test phenomena and test date, this paper put forward the rule of acceleration and displacement response, as well as the failure model of the gabled frame under earthquake, which revealed that the seismic performance of single span single story gabled frame is very good.As a result, this paper gave a useful suggestion on the behavior of gabled frame under earthquake, which might be used to revise related codes and specifications.
