Steel structure of lightweight building with gabled frames is a kind of primary structures of single-layer industry building and has been widely used in lightweight building, due to less steel consumer, lightweight, lower price, fast constructing, appearance beauty and wide applicability. As the research on seismic behavior of gabled frame is relative lack at present, the relative standards on seismic design are also not well treated, which lead to the application of this structure is limited in high seismic areas. This paper use dynamic elas-to-plastic time-history analysis to research the gabled frames of single-layer, single-span and without crane, to promote the application of gabled frames in our country. The numerical model of elas-to-plastic time-history analysis was establish by using finite element software ANSYS in this paper. After the validation of model, the seismic behavior of gabled frames, including 18 meter,24 meter,30 meter and 36 meter were analyzed, which were closed from the Standard Design Drawings for Steel Structure of Lightweight Building with Gabled Frames. According to the demanding of the seismic code of China, the ground motions of El-Centro earthquake,Taft earthquake and artificial earthquake were chosen, and the seismic fortification intensities were 7,8 and 9 respectively. The analysis results showed that the gabled frames in the Standard Design Drawings for Steel Structure of Lightweight Building with Gabled Frames satisfied the demand of "no damage under frequent earthquake, repairable under middle earthquake, and no collapse under strong earthquake" by the code for Seismic Design of Building of China.
