The Xi'an Bell Tower has the largest dimension and the most gorgeous history in the same kind architecture. This paper refering to the research fruits during the past years on the timber structure and Xi'an Bell Tower, on the basis of considering adequately the timber structure's property, gets a proper value in a simple way for the combine element that uses in stimulating the mortise and tenon in a finite element model, and makes a delicate finite element model for both the Bell Tower timber structure and the whole Bell Tower structrue, taking a dynamic character anslysis and a dynamic response one for both the structrue models; After making sure the influence on the earthquake response exerted by the benched foundation, we make a comparetive analysis for both the Bell Tower timber structure and the whole Bell Tower one, finding that the existing benched foundation contributes greatly for intensing the dynamic response of the Bell Tower timber structure, so only considering the Bell Tower timber structure in an earthquake response analysis may be not safe enough; Choose intense acceleration records that fits for the Bell Tower structure in a way of earthquake enginerring for initiating a seimic response analysis. In the meantime, this paper takes a parameter analysis of the mortise and tenon's rigid, the weight of a big roof and the deforming modulus of the benched foundation, and gets the rules about the dynamic response of the Bell Tower structure when those parameters above metioned are changed.
