Based on predictions of the vibration impact on Bell Tower induced by Metro Line 2 and Line 6 in Xi'an, effect of the foundation of Bell Tower was studied.The vibration control codes for safety of buildings of China and some other countries were summed up. Some regulations and allowance values in these codes were analyzed, compared and summarized in detail, which is very important to the evaluation of train-induced vibations of historical buildings.The stability of the wooden structure, the foundation of Bell Tower were assessed. The soil characteristic of Bell Tower was made by investigation and test,which provided parameter for the prediction of vibration induced by metro train.According to in-situ measurement data of vibration resource of Beijing metro train, the dynamic finite element model of metro train and Fast Fourier Transform Algorithm were used to obtain the metro train excitation on the rail. Finally, the excitation was applied on the track structure to obtain dynamic response in the soil and buildings.Based on the dynamic finite element model of MIDAS/GTS, track-tunnel-vibration isolation pile-soil system in different cases were studied. The parameters,the boundary conditions and the train excitation in the dynamic finite element model was validated. Calculation and comparative analysis for response of receiver points on the bottom of the foundation of Bell Tower induced by metro line 2 and line 6 were made in many cases to analyse the vibration reduction effects for the different vibration reduction measures.
