XIN JIANG is one of the districts where earthquakes are likely to happen, and this is an area which is supervised and protected emphatically by State council. High frequency and strong intensity are the main characteristics of earthquake occurred in this district. Due to low standard inhabitation conditions, especial for poor resident in southern XIN JIANG., and poor earthquake resistance performance, these kinds of houses can be severe destroyed by middling intensity earthquake or strong earthquake. The earthquake threats the security of people's life and treasures in XIN JIANG district. Therefore, it's very important and useful to research earthquake resistance performance of Stone-wood structure which will be a new type of structure for people in southern XIN JIANG to live in.First of all, a design proposal of Stone-wood structure is shown in this paper and then a 1/4 scale modal of Stone-wood structure is built to take a shaking table test. Secondly, through theory analysis and test research, the structure's weakness and break mechanism in every intensity degree of earthquake have been found out. Finally, it is to use finite element analysis software SAP2000 to analyze the earthquake response of the structure and further certify the results including natural frequency, stress and displacement. After analyzing, it is found that theory analysis results approximately coincide with test results. According to the whole research study, the one-storey modal of Stone-wood structure which is consisted of plain concrete wall and concrete ring beam has a big stiffness and is capable to resist 8 degree intensity of earthquake. Through the whole test processes, the main connector was reliable and had not been destroyed. Considering the traditional, technical and economic level in the country side, relevant suggestion to the structure was proposed in order to enhance and improve the earthquake resistance performance of village houses effectively and economically.From the research of this paper, it is not only to provide certain theory evidences to earthquake resistance project in XIN JIANG, but also effectively to promote the Stone-wood structure house in this rural area. All of the things have done in this paper are in aim to improve residents housing condition and enhance earthquake resistance performance of the house in countryside.
