Short-leg shear wall(in short, SLW) structure is a new type of structure form. SLW is an intergradation of structure system between the Special-shaped R. C. Columns and conventional shear wall structure which obtained good fuctional effect. Practice shows that widely application of SLW system in high residential building have great economic benefit and social benefet. Thus SLW structure has become the main structure form for the small high-rise house with 10-25 stories. But it is seldom applied in earthquake area for lacking deep investigation and practical tests.To aceieve the above goals,The following main work has been done .Firstly, according to the tall residential system's development and SLW's feature which is compared with some typical framework structures and convention shear wall structures, SLW structure is clarified to be the most important structure form for residence projects with 20-30 stories. Summation of reinforced concrete shear walls nonlinear analysis of the unit model, the model for this paper provides a theoretical background.Secondly, the tests of the shear wall components with the section ratio of width to thickness of 4,5,6,7,8,9 under low cyclic loading are conducted. The test blocks's failure mode,failure mechanism are investiged. The test blocks's feature load including cracking load,yield load,ultimate bearing capacity are determined. And analysis of the short shear wall specimen of hysteresis curve, the skeleton curve, and ductility, short shear wall on the seismic performance to do a certain amount of analysis. And through the flange section of the reinforcement of relations between the strain, shear lag effect that the existence of this model in this paper, the use of effective flange width of the concept. And a cross-section neutral axis for the sector, cross-section of the Rafah area and pressure area is equivalent linear stress determine the effective width of the flange wall Lastly, Under the experimental study ,this paper study on the seismic behavior of SLW structure ,the compound wall element mode with T-Section is constructed. Including multi-node model of wall element, middle model of wall element, edge model of wall element .This model can be freely assembled to the shear wall macro model in horizontal direction which breaks the plane section assumption. The element stiffness matrix of the SLW with T-Section are derived by the use of principle of virtual work. The spring stiffness conefficent has also been explored.
