Life depends on water. Water is the basic condition for human life and a lifeline for social and economic development. Only 3 percent of the fresh water resource, glacier included, can be used in our life, agriculture and industry to meet people's demand. The proportion of water resource differs in time and space, plus the unreasonable exploitation and serious waste of water resource, the development of urbanization and industrialization, and the aggravation of water pollution, so the water resource is in increasingly short supply. However, the rainfall resource is one of the fresh water resource which is easily neglected. Usually speaking, people pay primary attention to underground water resource which is transformed from rainfall resource so they strive to exploit underground water resource. Recently, the excessive exploration of underground water has resulted in a series of environmental problem, such as the subsidence, infusion of seawater into underground water in coastal cities, etc. Consequently, how to adequately collect and utilize rainfall resource which is a kind of natural and free water resource before it transforms into underground water resource, becomes a subject with much prospects. At the same time, the experts believe the utilization of rainfall in cities will not only bring ecological benefit and social benefit, but also a great direct and indirect economic benefit. China, which has above 1000 years' rainfall utilization practice, is among one of these countries with a long rainfall utilization history. During the late 1980s, the international trend of rainfall utilization leads to the formation and perfection of the modern concept of rainfall utilization.This thesis firstly introduces the background of the application of rainfall resource techniques and puts forwards the issue of circular utilization of urban water resource. It expounds that scientific and effective utilization of urban rainfall resource has great significance on promoting sustained utilization of urban water resource and improving urban water environment. Moreover, it presents the practice of foreign urban water resource utilization technology, revealing the significance and urgency of the research and application of urban rainfall resource utilization.Then this thesis retrospect the development process of rainfall resource utilization technology. Though rainfall utilization in big and medium cities in China are in the exploring and researching period, it shows a good development tendency. Moreover, this thesis makes analysis and research on the basic theoretical framework of rainfall resource utilization. It makes systematic analysis on the basic theory of urban rainfall resource utilization based on the status quo of urban rainfall resource utilization both abroad and at home. Furthermore, the application system of rainfall resource utilization technology is also framed,This thesis frames rainfall infiltration model. It calculates the capability of rainfall infiltration so as to avoid the uncertainty and the negative influence exerted by different water infiltration area and improve the former infiltration situation.This thesis expounds the applied way and era of urban rainfall resource technology according to the urban ecological environment, distributive characteristics of water used for industry and architectures in order to make full use of urban rainfall and enhance the capability and efficiency of rainfall utilization.This thesis makes analysis with reference to the concrete practice of rainfall resource utilization, that is Meng ze Lake rainfall resource utilization practice in Wuhan central business district. The writer of this thesis collects many years' rainfall records in Wuhan and brings up rainfall resource utilization plan based on the present situation of Wuhan CBD. Consequently, it optimizes the plan in view of many factors such as aquatic plants , the balance of the amount of water in lakes and management.The last part gives a brief summary of this thesis. In addition, this thesis figures out some problems we should pay attention to during the process of rainfall resource utilization in our country in the future and envisages the future research and development direction of rainfall resource utilization technology.
