The safety of crane metal structure is the main work of crane management. Concluded from the past accidents, the frequent fault of crane metal structure is crack. The main thoughts to solve the safety management of metal structure is: Provide proofs and specific management methods of the cranes for the technicians based on the study on cracks growth life and checking sites and checking cycles according to analysis on the stress, strain and representative site's strength of the crane structure. Nowadays, skillful workers are required in most of the companies, so it's hard to put the method into use. Therefore, the visualization technology which is more intuitively and more expediently is used to reduce the difficulty of theory application, so that crane metal structure management technology and theory can be widely pushed in ports and railway companies.First, the paper introduced the process and method in which originality stress date is acquired from the locale stress measuring of crane metal structure. Besides, the paper summarizes the method to calculate crack initiation life using Miner liner accumulated damage theory and the way to calculate the crack growth life by Fatigue & Fracture mechanics and Damage Tolerance Design from which crack routing inspection scheme is made.Second, the paper discussed the application of ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APDL) in crane metal structure analysis and the realization of the analysis in varied condition or series crane modal by different parameter inputting under visualization management interface.Last, the paper introduces development status and application foreground of visualization technology. Based on Fatigue & Fracture Mechanics and Damage Tolerance Design, the Visualization Management System of Crane Metal Structure is developed by Visual Basic 6.0 according to APDL. By using this visualization management system, we did the modeling and analysis with a gantry crane, calculated the fatigue crack's initiation and growth life, dealt with the process and result to visualization, and simulated the growth process of center rupture crack on the center of girder's flange girth.When putting the system into practice, what the users need to do is to click the mouse, and input the data under reminder of the computer. Thus, skillful workers are not required, so that requirement on adoption of the theory is reduced. We can forecast that, the study on visualization safety management of the crane metal structure will head for an all-sided, in-time and high efficiency development under the help of new data dealing method and computer technology. And it will become a main and core tool of many enterprises when they manage equipments.
