With the development of science and technology, energy demand is ever-increasing. At the same time, Environment protection is a important problem that we must faced to. Adopting horizontal-axis wind turbine to generate electricity is the major form of using wind energy to deal with above problem. The airfoil of wind turbine is the key assembly. It is the basic that designation and aerodynamic simulation of airfoils for wind turbines. At present, the study of rotor aerodynamics adopts mainly vortex-induced method to carry on theory study. CFD is not only one of major methods of aerodynamic simulation, but also one of major problems of airfoils study. In this article,on the basis of analysis of the actuality of wind electricity and airfoils for wind urbines. Content of some kinds of airfoils for horizontal axis wind turbine(HAWT) has introduced. Firstly, based on NACA series airfoil, wind turbine airfoil aerodynamic performance has been simulated under the CFD method and has obtained interesting conclusion. Lastly, based on MATLAB program calculation method has carried on the prediction of rotor aerodynamic characteritics. Mainly containing two parts: the first, making use of Momentun elementary theory of rotor aerodynamics has carried on the prediction of rotor aerodynamic perfoumances; the secod, making use of Glauert vortex-induced theory has carried on the prediction of rotor aerodynamic perfoumances. The two methods based on ready-made of rotor to carry on aerodynamic performance prediction and to obtain aerodynamic parameter, obtaining rotor thrust F,torque M and power P, and rotor three paremeter Cf,Cm and Cp, and describing Cf,Cm and Cp withλ0 changing curve, and P with cutin wind velocity and cutout wind velocity aerodynamic curve, and getting many significant conclusions.
