Driving axle and chassis frame are two main assembly of truck chassis, so it is of great valve to conduct computer aided analysis and design of them.Drive axle housing is the main load-supporting and force-transferring part, as the assembling base of final drive, differential and half axle. This paper combined multi-body dynamics simulation technique with FEA (finite element analysis) technique. Firstly, 3-D model of driving axle and whole vehicle model in ADAMS were built. Then the forces of key points were gained by force analysis based on multi-body dynamics. Finally, modal analysis and finite element static analysis of FEM were conducted by ANSYS software to get the deformation displacement and stress distribution in typical working conditions of full load, impact, maximum traction force, emergent braking and sideslip.Chassis frame, the main carrier of assembly and part connections of truck, supports complicated vertical, lateral and longitudinal loads. By studying shape topology optimization, this paper provided a new design concept of chassis frame, which is available to the design of frame, and is also of application value for the design of other automotive parts.
