Distributed generation is a brand-new and promising technology to generate electricity and utilize power comprehensively. If it is at night and there is no light for solar generation or no wind for wind power generation, the distributed generation system should be designed to monitor the dynamics of loads and worked as a backup when the other distributed generating units cannot run normally. VRLA batteries are widely being used in distributed generation benefiting from the low cost, diverse raw material, mature manufacture know-how and high specific characteristic, etc. This paper gives an overall analysis on the following VRLA batteries' aspects besides the basic principles and electrical characteristics:(1) Analyzed a hybrid VRLABESS-Wind generation system;(2) Analyzed a hybrid VRLABESS-PV generation system;(3) Analyzed a hybrid VRLABESS-Wind-PV generation system;(4) Proposed a simulation based on Shepherd model and Peukert expressions compiled by Visual C++;(5) Set up a CIM of VRLA battery.
