Hybrid Electric Vehicle is one of the efficient technology to solve the problems which were caused by the limit of energy sources and environment pollution . City public transit is very crowd, and stops frequently, the driving speed is very slow, and the pollution is very seriously. City bus' traveling line is often fixed, and running time is fixed too. Under this kind of condition, the emission and the fuel economy of conventional city bus are bad .Hybrid Electric City Bus can just develop its advantages.In this paper, a study on the overall design, modeling, simulation,control Strategy and powertrain test-bed of NEW LONGMA hybrid electric bus is carried out. Based on working principle of overall system, simulation model and control strategy of a hybrid powertrain system is developed by means of integrating the key components and overall system. This paper gains the following some research results:(1) Based on the theory of hybrid electric bus, the series hybrid drivetrain is selected as the modeling object because it is especially adapted to the city bus transportation. The methodology of modeling issues of the drivetrain components were put forward on the basis of home and abroad literature. On the Matlab / Simulink modeling environment, the modeling is build based on hybrid electric simulation software ADVISOR, these ensure the utility and reliability of the model.(2)The related parameters of hybrid electric driveline were designed, then an optimization design of parameter for power system of series hybrid electric bus (SHEB) is presented in this thesis. The design is based on the method of orthogonal experiment. The orthogonal experiment design method and the influence of various factors on the fuel economy, are analyzed. Given review and optimization to the matching of various factors by orthogonal experiment, the aim of reducing the experiment time, shortening the optimization period, increasing the car's fuel economy and drive character are achieved. Finally, validate the optimization scheme by simulation. The result indicates that the capacity of the bus is very perfect under this scheme.(3)The experiments on the engine and the electric motor were performed. Important data are needed for the modeling of the hybrid electric bus by the test-bed. the capability of hybrid electric city bus is researched by simulation.
