Study On The Spirit Of Traditional Space In Suzhou

Nowadays, modern architectural spaces are not endorsed for lack of humanism in many places. People who live there gradually feel themselves the homeless. As a traditional city with long history, Suzhou also faces the problem that environmental dangerous resulted in science technology. The study traces back to factors which form traditional architectural space in Suzhou by means of architecture phenomenology. It also discusses the relationship between environment and artificial surroundings and impact on special conception made by local traditional culture. On the bases of these two factors, the spirit of traditional architecture in Suzhou is summarized. All of this may be useful to create architectural space in architecture and urban design.
