The release of smoke and wastewater will pollute environment and water resource, which heavily threaten human survival environment. With the increasing attention to environment protection, we need to control the air and water pollution and strengthen management. The foundation of management is quantitative control. The measurement of sewage flow is difficult because the sewage has the characteristic of smudgy medium, partially filled, etc.Traditional flowmeters are usually used in full filled pipes. When they are applied in partially filled pipes, errors bring up. To raise the measurement accuracy in partially filled pipes, a new method is presented, which is combining a velocity sensor and a level sensor. In this thesis, the theoretical calculation of measurement in partially filled pipes are deduced. Magnetostrictive liquid level sensor and EMF are selected. Basing on magnetostrictive effect,,Magnetostrictive liquid level sensor can convert level-measurement to time-measurement with a high accuracy. And because of its non-contact, it is very suitable for sewage flow measurement. In the thesis, the work principle of magnetostrictive liquid level sensor is introduced in detail. The level measurement and velocity measurement module are introduced, including hardware and software module design. With many experiments, the magnetostrictive liquid level sensor can get the level value with a high accuracy. And this method can implement the flow measurement in partially filled pipes while improving the measurement accuracy. Flowmeter in partially filled pipes meet the practical need.It has broad development prospect.
