In Dielectric Barrier Discharge(DBD), It is believed that barrier material has animportant impact on discharge. In this paper, six pieces of silicon rubber which haddifferent corona surface modified time (0 hour, 14 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, 96 hoursand 120 hours) were used as barrier dielectric material to study phenomenon aboutdielectric barrier discharge at low air pressure (0.5kpa~52kpa). It was found that rangein which uniform discharge maintained related to silicon rubber material. The longer thetime was, the wider the range was (46kpa in 120hous, 30 percent bigger than 35kpa in 0hour). In addition, using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and thermally simulatedcurrent (TSC), we obtained characristic of traps about six samples. It was found that thelonger corona surface modified time was, the bigger peak current was, the more theamount of charges in traps was and the bigger energy level of traps was, but lower than1eV. From this paper, the conclusion that Shallow traps on barrier dielectric materialsurface has an important impact on uniform discharge can be made.
