The three-dimensional numerical investigation was presented for the air-side flow and heat transfer characteristics of flat wave-finned tube banks and elliptical-finned elliptical tube banks that are commonly used in air-cooled condensers of power plant. For the flat wave-finned tube bank, the velocity and temperature fields of air were obtained by numerical simulation and the correlations of flow friction loss coefficient and Nusselt number were presented. The influences of air inlet velocity, fin space, fin height, the tilted angle of fin upon the flow and heat transfer characteristics of air were analyzed and the geometric structure was optimized. The verification of the numerical results was presented by the comparisons of the numerical results with the experimental and the designing data. For the elliptical-finned elliptical tube bank, the correlation of flow loss coefficient and Nusselt number were also obtained by the numerical simulation and the data analysis. It is of theoretical and practical use for the optimization designing and economic operation of air-cooled condensers in the present work.
