To reduce the cost and improve the flux density waveform of motor in this paper, the finite element method (FEM) is used to analyze the gap magnetic field of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with the different structures.Firstly, the development of magnetic field analysis of PMSM with FEM is introduced and the research content was also presented. Aiming at the different structure of the PMSM, such as tangential and surface mounted PMSM, Halbach magnet structure, magnet-isolating material among poles, Halbach magnet structure with the magnet-isolating material among poles, different thickness of permanent magnet(PM), the field analysis and calculation were carried out, the relationship between the structure parameter and flux leakage coefficient as well as the gap flux density waveform was found out, as well as the relative measures was proposed, which can reduce the axial flux leakage and harmonic, improve gap flux density, decrease the cost.
