This paper describes the advanced control strategy on the AGC in interconnected power grid. Traditional integral control can not offer satisfactory result for its characteristic with nonlinear, time-invariant, strong coupling and parameters uncertainty. To resolve this problem, a fuzzy control strategy based on Particle Swarm Optimization is applied to the interconnected electrical power systems for Automatic Generation Control, the fuzzy decision control strategy is introduced based on fuzzy adjustive PI control strategy, and make use of the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to optimize the initialized parameters of PI controller and the fuzzy rule of the fuzzy inference system. It overcomes the difficulties of choosing fuzzy rule depending on the experiences. Comparing its control effect with the classical integral type controller and fuzzy adjustive PI controller, Simulation results show that the proposed fuzzy decision control strategy can generate the best dynamic response.
