With the rapid development of science and technology, traditional launch technologies are hardly meet people's special demands of launching apparatus in the aspect of velocity, because of its inherent limits and defects. The electromagnetic launch technology, which develops in recent years, is a leap of launch theory and launch technology, and gives a new approach to solve problems mentioned above.The major components of the dissertation are organized as the follows.First, according to the basic principle of the railgun, we build an interior ballistics model of simple solid-armature railgun. On the basis of the model , a model of simple solid-armature railgun and capacitor bank is set up, and the characteristic equations of circuit and kinematics are derived out.Second, by the model of simple solid-armature railgun and capacitor bank, we quantificationally simulate the model with Runge-Kutta method. Then we analyze the disciplinarian of railgun characteristic and the influence of the mass of bullet, the resistance of loop. The results give some foundation to continue study on this realm in the future.Besides, we discuss the basic principle of the work and the theory of optimal design. Based on the model of the efficiency and simple railgun model, we ascertain the design variable, target function and constraint, then build an optimal mathematical model. The optimal mathematical model is respectively derived through internal penalty functions method and genetic algorithms. We analyze the validity of the results theoretically, and acquire the reasonable design parameters by comparing different simulation results with each other .
