With the exploitation of natural gas and the enhancement of people's sense of environment protection, the application of gas turbine generator sets on ocean platforms is more and more universal. Therefore, the working performances of gas turbine generator sets become important. As one of the pivotal components of gas turbine generator sets, fuel metering devices, especially the liquid fuel metering valve, is very precise and could be easily destroyed by contamination. In order to use and maintain the liquid fuel metering valve favorably and guarantee the normal function of turbine generator sets, it's necessary to do research and test on the static and dynamic characteristics of turbine liquid metering valve.This paper takes VL3000 type liquid fuel metering valve of Precision Engine Controls Corporation as an example and analyzes its static and dynamic characteristics including load flux characteristic, no-load flux characteristic, pressure characteristic, leakage characteristic, frequency response characteristic and step response characteristic. The whole testing scheme was proposed, the software of the testing system was designed and the simulation experiment was taken based on the mathematic model of the testing system. The main research contents include:1. The testing scheme was advanced based on analyzing the static and dynamic characteristics of the liquid fuel metering valve. The hydraulic circuit, electric- hydraulic control system and data acquisition system were designed.2. The graphical interfaces programming language LabVIEW was chosen as the tool to design the software for testing system and modularization method was introduced to set up its testing flow. Modules such as signal generation, data acquisition, data processing and frequency sweep were designed. Finally, the software testing platforms were built.3. The mathematic model of the testing system was deduced and the parameters were calculated. The characteristics of the system such as time characteristics, frequency response and stability were shown. Finally, the simulation experiment was done by Simulink module based on the mathematic model of the testing system.
