Parkinson's disease(PD)is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder named after a British doctor called Janes Parkinson. This kind of disease is the most common disorder of movement, affecting about 3% of the population over the age of 60years and more than 2,000,000 Chinese residents. Since no therapy is found effect to completely cure PD, the PD patients are suffering from development of rest tremor, bradykinesia, rigidity, or impairment of postural balance.Deep brain stimulator (DBS) is the most effective therapy for Parkinson's Disease (PD). This device contains the intracranial lead, the lead extension, the implantable pulse generator (IPG), and the control magnet. But the limitation of power supply made patients suffer much to replace battery through operation.As a surgical therapy for Parkinson's disease, a new designed neurostimulator----external deep brain stimulator(EDBS), is presented in this paper, with a computerized pulse generator outside patient's body. This EDBS utilized a flat winding which generated magnetic field with pulse input and reduced dimension of stimulator and the size of the wound for the patients. Two coils were utilized to transmit pulse, one inside the patient's body while the other outside. Principle of EDBS was introduced, and methodology also discussed for signal transmitting to the inner electrode from the outer signal generator.Signal received in patient's brain was proved effective to relieve Parkinson's symptoms. New applying of Class D amplifier was presented to drive EDBS, and a great enhancement of efficiency was shown in the article. The efficiency of 5.6% is ideal for EDBS. Auto-magnetized device was used to keep the coils. Efficiency of EDBS was proved enhanced with this device. ADuC848 is core of system, controlling pulse generation and regulation. Fuction of self-calibration is impleted by adjusting ADuC848 output.Compared with DBS, External DBS (EDBS) was not limited by the power consumption any more and sharply decreases patients'suffering from operations. EDBS is firstly presented in this paper, and class D amplifier is firstly introduced into EDBS in all over the world.
