In recent years, a batch of high dams of 300m-level is under construction in China, and the problem of energy dissipation is critical and prominent. The safety of plunge pool which is the protecting structure of lower reaching bed is the key to success or failure of energy dissipation. So the stability of lining structure in the plunge pool not only is one problem that needs to be solved in practice but also one of the subjects that many researchers have studied for years. At present, the shape of plunge pool has two types. One is trapezium section slab that is called flat slab for short; the other is the inverted-arch slab. Based on the plunge pool for Yutang and Wuqiangxi, the paper studies the breakage modes of flat slab such as floating up, overturn and rupture of the new breakage mode through numerical simulation analysis. And based on the plunge pool with new inverted-arch type for Laxiwa arch dam, this paper studies the integral stability, the local stability of inverted-arch slabs and the dynamic response in the period of flood discharge through numerical analysis method. The main harvests of this dissertation include as follows:(1) It improves concrete material model through using concrete material of ADINA and integrating with types of rupture role in order to define concrete rupture curve. So it works out the developing process of rrupture.(2) It analyses the breakage mode of flat slab in any condition. When quantity of reinforcing steel bar is constant, it concludes the borderline of three breakage mode of flat slab--rupture and overturn or floating up in slab thick. And it educed the borderline of three breakage mode of flat slab--rupture and overturn or floating up in quantity of reinforcing steel bar, when the slab thick is constant.(3) The integral stability of plunge pool with inverted-arch type is just the stability of the whole arch ring, and mainly due to arch support. Otherwise, the stability of arch support is controlled by arch abutment thrust. This paper analyzes the influencing factor of arch abutment thrust fatherly, like the forms of slabs and. The stability of inverted-arch slab with keyway is better by analyzing the unstability forms and conditions of plate in numerical analysis method.(4) This paper also studies the dynamic response of inverted-arch slabs through uplift of actual measurement in hydraulic elastic model. The results indicate that the numerical results are consistent with the measured results. In the end, this paper analyzes the influence factor which is the thick, the form, and the size of slabs in a arch ring, to arch abutment thrust, displacement of slabs in a arch ring and skewback.
