The steel structural stability is an important factor that decides the structure's bearing capacity. For centrally compressed members or flexural members, if not being handled properly in technology, it may lose the overall or partial structural stability, even the whole structure will collapse and the consequence is serious. We must pay more attention to the structural stability in the engineering design.Jacket is one of the main ocean engineering structures in oil development at sea, good or bad design will influence the safety of the operators and the economic benefit of the whole project directly. The jacket platform adopts tubular-shaped components in quantities and the code prescribes: under working conditions or extreme environmental conditions, each component of the structure must have the overall and partial stability.This paper will study the structural stability of the deep water jacket platform. According to the structure pattern, a series of widespread components being selected, this article will study their overall flexural buckling, and will also analyze the stability of centrally compressed members when subjected to transverse loads or end moments. In general, the component is not isolated in actual engineering, this paper will also briefly study the interaction of the structural overall and partial stability. Considering that the axial compressed cylindrical shell always lose partial stability firstly, this paper will use shell elements to simulate the buckling of the cylindrical shell in axial compression, and will also study its structural stability when subjected to hydrostatic pressure.The calculation results have some certain reference value in the steel structure engineering design. Closely combined with the actual structures in the offshore oil production engineering, the research has certain instruction significance and practical value for the design, construction and installment of deep water jacket platforms.
