With the development of society and economy, the demand for power supply and its ability has increased rapidly, service quality and enhancing automation is also crucial. Once the distribution network failure, cables are difficult for fault location, which influences the reliability and security. Enhancing automation, service quality and management of distribution grid is also crucial, so fault monitoring and location promptly are worthy of in-depth research. Single-line-to-grand fault location maintains unresolved to power distribution networks for a long time. After a comprehensive analysis of existing methods, this paper made a thorough study with the fault location of single-line-to-grand and Short circuit between two phases.The sinusoid detection single with suitable frequency given at initial end of the radial distribution network that fault has happened, based on the distribution parameter circuit model ,the fault location equation and fault evaluation equation for fault resistance are constructed with the help of the uniform transmission line equation and method of symmetrical component. Framework of date-processing for layers of network is set up in order to suit branch voltage and current components calculation, impedance calculation, and that the fault diagnosis software and fault simulation software are compiled in C++ language. In this paper, We impose three-frequency sinusoidal signal diagnosis at the origin , use three frequency fault location authenticity of the variance as a sort of fault basis, and amend the parameters for further analysis and identification, raise the maximum authenticity identify the capacity and fault location accuracy.Large of simulation results show that the theories, the methods and the general programs of this paper can accurately carry out the identification of fault location of single-line-to-ground fault and single short circuit between two phases fault of radial distribution lines with any topology structure, and can distinguish the real fault from the false ones.
