As a novel structure electric machine, the double-rotor machine can achieve the function of a continuous variable transmission when applied to vehicle's transmission system. It has wide application potentials from vehicle transmission to wind generator, etc, and has become a hot research at home and abroad in recent years.By adding another rotor, the double-rotor machine evolves to a new breed machine with dual mechanical ports and dual electrical ports. The double-rotor machine based on induction motor or PM motor is present in the near few years. For the requirements of high reliability, wide constant power area and broad speed range of vehicle transmission system, the author presents a switched reluctance motor based double-rotor machine (SRDRM). The main characteristic of SRDRM is double salient structure with high reliability and wide constant power area compared with other types of double-rotor machines.Firstly, the thesis presents the working principle of SRDRM, and builds an equivalent magnetic-network model based on its magnetic structure as well as the function analysis of outer-rotor yoke. Secondly, given the linear magnetic route condition, the flux linkage equation, EMF equation, torque equation and mechanical movement equation with the static characteristic are analyzed. The theoretical analysis and computation fundamental of SRDRM is established.An index selection and design method of SRDRM is brought forward, and a prototype machine is designed. Based on the prototype machine, this thesis studies the effect caused by the main parameters on SRDRM performance, which contributes to the optimization design and performance verification. Also, the thesis makes 2D FEM simulation for the investigation of its inner electromagnetic field, analyzes the impact caused by magnetic coupling on torques, and finds out the torque performance discipline by comparing the torque waveforms of either stator winding or inner-rotor winding is excited alone.A prototype machine is developed and an experimental test bench is built, and the characteristics of the outer motor and the static torque-angle are tested. The result verifies the theory analysis comparing to the simulation results.
