The design described in this thesis is a kind of multifunctional reliable and high integrated device, on the basis of a GPS Fingerprint Recognition and Vehicle Traveling Data Recording system. The new vehicle terminal not only has the function of common Vehicle traveling data recorder but also has the function of GPS GPRS and internet. It can transmit the data on vehicles position and running status through the wireless network and the internet to a monitoring center. The vehicle terminal not only can record all the basic information about the vehicles travel processes, it can also realize the exchange of information with monitoring center. The vehicle terminal not only provides the conventional messages such as overtime, over speed, security, early warning and so on to the drivers, but also can pass-along the special messages to monitoring center in the event of the vehicle being robbed or stolen. The vehicle terminal includes the functinon of fingerprint recognition, therefor it can effectively prevent the vehicles from robbing and driving by any non-legitimate person.This system would be helpful to the oil field vehicles operating control and the safety control and would enhance the vehicles using efficiency and reduce the loss in the event of accident.Firstly, this paper analyzes the present state of GPS vehicle development, based on this analysis, a new kind of vehicle-terminal with GPS-GPRS for vehicle management system is proposed. In addition, it describes in detail the whole scheme and main features of the new vehicle-terminal.It follows that outline the paper hardware design ideas about vehicle-terminal and describes the details of the hardware implement including the introduction of the major ICs and the key techniques in system design. The hardware working principle and interfacing method are described, the internal structures of some modules are also provided. Based on the description about the hardware modules, we introduce development environment, design ideas and methods in software about some vehicle-terminal modules and the important thought on software design.At last, the paper introduces the operation of the vehicle-terminal in Oilfield Vehicle Management System, and made some suggestions to improve and update the system.
