With the soaring quantity of automobiles,automobile has become a main method oftransportation in people’s life. At the same time, the life and property losses caused by trafficaccidents have increased. In order to reduce these losses, vehicle emergency callsystemplaysan important role. But this system should be made to be more efficient. So thepaper focuses on in-vehicle emergency call system based on GPS/GPRS terminal, and theterminal overall structure, hardware and software design.The main structureof thevehicle terminal includes the acceleration signal detection andidentification, car GPS positioning, and wireless transmission technology. When an accidentoccurs, the processor can detect acceleration signal and identify vehicles that have collided.After confirming the collision,the GPS system will quickly sent the location information tothe rescue center via wireless communication, which can make the rescue arrive as quickly aspossible. The vehicle terminal has a fast speed of response and first-aid efficiency, which caneffectively reduce the losses caused by the accident.In terms of hardware,appropriate chip is selected according to the functionsimplemented in the various modules, and the overall description of the modules and thegeneral characteristics of the modules are introduced at the same time. The design of sensormodule, GPS module, GPRS module, and power supply circuit.is also introduced in detail.Interms of software, the main external interrupt data acquisition design and communicationmodule design, GPS module software design are mainly introduced. Finally, the automatictrigger control algorithm has been put forward, and the algorithm used in this paper is finallychosen by comparing several common automatic trigger control algorithms.Finally, the summary for this paper is made including the deficiencies in the design andsomething to be improved in the future. Some recommendations are given for further researchand development of the vehicle emergency call terminal.
