With good drainage property, road performance, traffic safety as well as noise reducing, porous asphalt pavement have now become one of the most important asphalt pavement and have taken more and more attention. Porous asphalt pavement with large interconnected pores is prepared with high viscosity modified bitumen. The ageing of asphalt pavement would be more serious in the process of usage of porous pavement because of oxygen and water. So high viscosity modified asphalt should have better physical and anti-ageing properties. This paper summarizes the current researches of modified asphalt at home and abroad, studies and develops a modifier with which high viscosity asphalt is prepared by the method of blending at their melt. The impacts of modifier on high-temperature properties, low-temperature properties, high temperature storage stability, rheological properties as well as the ageing properties of bitumen are studied.High viscosity modified asphalt and one kind of general SBS-modified asphalt are prepared and their physical properties, rheological properties and ageing properties are studied. The results show that both high viscosity asphalts have better high and low temperature performance and storage stability than general modified asphalt. The rheological properties of HVB-modified asphalt are evaluated through Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR).The results make sure that the high viscosity modified asphalt have higher modulus, lower phase angle and better rutting resistance at high temperature compared with ordinary modified asphalt. The ageing properties of high viscosity modified asphalt were evaluated by the Rolling Thin Film Oven Test (RTFOT), the pressure ageing vessel (PAV), UV-light ageing test. The results indicate that high viscosity asphalt has lower viscosity ageing index and higher retained ductility which mean better resistance to short-term, long-term thermal oxidative ageing and anti-UV ageing properties.
