Porous asphalt mixture is a kind of open-graded asphalt mixture, which is generally used as the overlayer of the old road or the surface layer of the newly construction road . This kind of pavement can effectively reduce the moisture, splash water and glare caused by water accumulated in the surface , and it also can reduce traffic noise. It has become an important direction in the pavement construction of our country in view of its good use performance and superior durability of the porous asphalt mixture. The paper is emphasized on the study of the selection of raw material, gradation composition, mix proportion design and construction technology of the porous asphalt mixture. The choice of the asphalt binder is key important for the porous asphalt mixture. Based on the domestic TPS-modifier, the paper studied the properties of different modifier content. The result shows that porous asphalt mixture with 15% domestic TPS-modifier performs good stability high temperature, anti-cracking low temperature and durability. The paper proposed a new parameter "reserved air void" based on the Bailey Method, by which to design mix proportion of porous asphalt mixture. By adjusting "reserved voidage", "coarse aggregate volume ratio" and "coarse aggregate chosen density", the paper studied the relationship between the three parameters, the air void ratio and pavement performance of porous asphalt mixture, hence recommended the good performance porous asphalt mixture and applied to the test road. The result shows that the porous asphalt mixture designed by the modified Bailey Method has the characters of air void easily to control and superior pavement performance, which proves that the feasibility to design the porous asphalt mixture by the modified Bailey Method...
