Scroll compressor is a new type compressor developed recently. It has characteristics of high efficiency, low energy consumption, compact structure and working smoothly. But due to its own structure limitation, the conventional compressor in which the thickness of scroll wrap is constant shows its defect on some aspects such as further increasing its volume ratio and space utilization, and other extending application fields. When a new style of scroll compressor with higher pressure-ratio is developed, the number of wrap turns has to be raised and this will lead to a longer leak contour. Furthermore, leakage between different working chambers will be increased, the efficiency will decline and the machining cost is also rise up. Therefore, the study of new profile for scroll compressor is one of hot spots among researchers and scholars all over the world.This paper is focus on the scroll compressor of hybrid wraps. Engagement conditions of hybrid scroll wraps and general equation for profile of scroll wrap are described in detail. The plane curve theory is introduced as well. Based on above work, a new profile of hybrid scroll wrap is developed.The contents of this paper are arranged according to the requirements of practical design. After establishing equations of wrap profile, geometry model and dynamic model are established in this paper and the resolve methods is given at the same time. Through above mentions, not only the volume of compression chamber and the gas force in working chambers could be calculated, but also the force acted on moving components and dynamic balance could be analyzed. And all these could provide a credible reference for design process.Because of the complexity of scroll wrap profile, it is more difficult to manufacture variable-cross-section scroll wrap than conventional scroll wrap. This paper gives methods to machining higher order curve and introducing the interpolation calculation to meet the precision demands of variable-cross-section scroll wrap.
