A vertical axis wind turbine of 300 rated capability is designed according to momentum theory ,linear theory and related knowledge about designing vertical axis wind turbine. Quadruplet impeller wheels are designed with 1 meter radius of gyration, 1.2 meter leaf height. NACA0018 with three and five blades of symmetric air-foil kind, NACA63-412 with three and five blades of asymmetric air-foil are designed. Besides a kind of concentrating wind power setllment—gathering wind wing is designed.Power output characteristic test of the vertical axis wind turbine is carried out in the car. The output power installed different leaf are comparing on the condition of installing gathering wind wing and not .The result is that : with the same kind of aerofoil, the wind turbine installing five blades impeller wheels has a higher output power than that of three blades impeller wheels. The output power of wind turbine with symmetric air-foil is higher than that with asymmetric air-foil, on the condition of same numbers of blades; The output power of wind turbine without gathering wind wing is higher than installed gathering wind wing, when the two wind turbine installed the same kind of blades.
