To all of us, Power Grid adopts power lines and power cables in electricity transmitting. With application costs decreasing of power cable and rebuilding of urban power-network, power cable is being widely used. But, until now, there have not efficient methods on power cable fault location, which block the processing of urban beauty and power network's rebuilding. According to the further researching on high resistance faulted cable, which is the highest probability faulted in cable, this paper gives the Time-Domain of the waveform of faulted cable, using the time-domain principle. The time domain simulation of the waveform of high resistance faulted cable, which is the same in appearance as the waveform from wave recorder, will give the experiences to electrical operator and approve the efficiency on fault location.This paper gives a theory, which is based on conventional transmission line model with the Finite Element method, researches on the technology of power cables fault location; and gives the time domain simulation on the theory by means of adopting the Advanced Eular method.This paper adopts the FCA to simulate the faulted cable waveform of all kinds of the fault. According to change the parameter of cable model (power cables length, account step, impulse width, fault location), The FCA above has been developed using VB6.0, and the simulation result is low resistance fault\high resistance fault\open circuit fault. According to the simulation graph and project practice, the FCA, which based on the given model, could make the operators have further comprehensive on the characters of the waveforms and so on, which will gain great efficiency in both society and economy.
