Swithing converter is the core circuit of the switching power supplies, the design of reliability on it can reduces failure probability and improves the stability of the electronics equipment.This article introduces how to calculate MTBF of electronic product, points out that stresses on switch element changes when input voltage and load change in their variable range. Maximum stress of converter in CCM and DCM is analyzed, the best inductor is based on minimum load and maximum input woltage. Spice simulations were made to confirm it. The method of reliability designing on buck converter is detailed analysed, constructs reliability mode based on the best inductor, distributes reliability indexes to each device by using engineering weighed method, and confirms rated stress to guide choosing components by stress analysis. Based chosen components, by changing inductor and calculating each MTBF, concludes that the converter is reliable if the inductor superior to the best inductor.Because of the commonness of the electronic and circuit product,the method of reliability design andanalysis can also be fit to design other electronic and circuit products,reliability design method can instruct the designing of electronic and circuit not only in the case but also in other electronic and circuit products.
