The reliability of transmission lines is closely related to thereliableoperationofpowergrids.This paper according to the strong seasonal and strong regional features of the faults oftransmission lines established the sub-series model about how to calculate the reliability oftransmission lines. And considering the correlation among faults, we calculated the reliabilityof transmission line sections. Second, we used interference theoretical to analysis of twofunctions. One is the relationship between the contamination degree of insulators and theflashover probability of pollution of transmission lines at constant voltage when we considerof the non-soluble deposit density ; the other is the relationship among ice weight, melted waterconductivity and flashover probability of ice-covered insulators of transmission lines atconstant voltage. And realized these two relationships using FORTRAN programminglanguage. Finally, we analysis the method about how to calculate the probability of pollutionflashover of insulators and flashover probability of ice-covered insulators when there aresome degradation insulators existing in the transmission lines.
