Reliability demand of consumer to power supply is more important with the prompt development of national economy. The fault rate of the main lines is down, but that of the branch lines is rising obviously after the newly rebuild toward city power system. To install the demarcation load switch between them will be a better solution to the above-mention problem. It is a difficult problem to get power source and need to be maintained. Study the low-power consumption device which uses a set of battery as power source, therefore, has important signification and benefit. First, protection function is researched, especially to the indirectly grounded fault protection. Then feasibility of protection scheme is analyzed and simulated. At last, it comes to conclusion through software and hardware design of low power consumption: using two sets of high performance, big capacity battery as power source, it is able to reach the usage in 10 years without being maintenance.
