Along with the development of aerospace, automobile, craftwork and mould industry, the complex parts with free surface become more and more. Reverse engineering is a main means which gain this products model, Rapid prototyping is an important means which manufacture this products. The RE/RP integration system based on reverse engineering has caused extensive attention at present. It has an importan significance to speed up designing of products.Aimed at modeling efficiency of parts with complex surface being low in reverse engineering, the surface reconstruction is researched through product reverse process in this paper. The modeling method which is based on surface and intercept curve characteristic for different point cloud is introduced. The paper does application analyse combineing CAD reconstruction of complex surface parts. The measurements, pretreatment of data, surface modeling and machining simulation of products have been finished. By analyzing rules and structures of the STL file, it is pointed out that the traditional methods are low efficiency and data structure is enormous because it needs judge every triangle location when gained point of intersection. The paper raises one kind of algorithm for rapid slicing which adopts the coordinate layering principle. The slicing software is developed by Vc++ and OpenGL, CLI file is build at the same time. The algorithm improves the data structure and efficiency, is applied succeessfully in rapid slicing. Aimed at the problems of rapid prototyping, the technique of RPM, environment structure of RE/RP integration manufacture system and data transmission of RP system is studied. Point cloud processing and curve editing is finished by Surface software. Solid model is created by UG software; the right STL file can be established. Rapid prototyping of product is realized in successfully by Reverse engineering. The validity of way which is put forward in the paper is tested.
